Packers Preparing For Fewer Fans, If Any At All, At Lambeau This Year

Season-ticket holders received a letter saying capacity would be significantly reduced this yeargetty images

The Packers will play “before significantly fewer fans at Lambeau Field this year, and possibly in front of none at all,” according to Richard Ryman of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. Packers President & CEO Mark Murphy sent a letter to season-ticket holders informing them that Lambeau’s capacity will be “significantly reduced" this season due to social distancing guidelines. The team “made it clear games could be played with no fans, but in any case there would be ‘significantly fewer.’" Fans who had a June 1 deadline to renew their season tickets "can opt out of this season's games without losing control of their seats for next season.” Those ticket holders can “request a refund or ask that their payment be carried over to next season.” Ticket holders who “do not choose those options can apply for a chance at tickets for a game this year.” That availability “will depend on how many people opt in and how many are allowed in the stadium” (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 7/3).

RAIDERS FIGURING OUT PLAN: In Las Vegas, Vincent Bonsignore reports the Raiders are "having ongoing internal discussions about a number of options and approaches for a rabid season ticket base that completely sold out new Allegiant Stadium." While the team continues to figure out what it will do, it has "indefinitely pushed back the deadline for final payment on 2020 season tickets" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 7/4).
