MLS Players Become Crypto-Cards on Sorare Fantasy Platform

Sorare has signed a licensing agreement with the MLS Players Association, adding digital cards of more than 700 current MLS players to the fantasy soccer platform. The deal was negotiated by OneTeam Partners, a marketing firm established by the NFLPA and MLBPA.

The company’s digital cards can be used to build lineups to compete in fantasy competitions. The cards are authenticated via the Ethereum blockchain, and they can be bought and sold using the Ether cryptocurrency.

As the MLSPA continues to expand its list of partners, we are excited to officially announce our license agreement with Sorare. The MLS audience continues to grow and evolve, and we are excited to be a part of giving fans the opportunity to engage with their favorite players in a new digital landscape,” Dan Jones, MLSPA COO, said in a press release.

More than 40 soccer clubs have licensed digital trading cards on Sorare, including Italy’s Napoli and Juventus, Spain’s Atletico Madrid and French club Lyon. Last month, South Korea’s K League became the first Asian sports league to join the platform. The MLSPA is the first soccer organization in the Americas to sign on.
