DraftKings Launches Standalone Gambling Mobile App

Sports gaming company DraftKings has introduced its first standalone casino mobile app for gambling not related to sports. The app launched in New Jersey and is currently only available on iOS devices.

The DraftKings Casino app offers digital slot and table gambling such as Blackjack and Roulette that are native to DraftKings. Other online gambling companies such as  International Gaming Technology, Slingo and Scientific Games will also be integrating their own games into the DraftKings Casino app. Though initially only available in New Jersey, DraftKings plans to expand its casino app into additional states that permit online gambling.

DraftKings has offered casino games to New Jersey-based users since 2018, when the DraftKings sports betting app launched in the Garden State. The publicly traded company has now decided to migrate its casino operations out of its mobile sportsbook and into its new standalone casino product. After starting out as a daily fantasy provider before moving into sports betting, DraftKings is now strengthening its gambling footprint while sports have been disrupted by COVID-19.

“We are thrilled to break new ground for DraftKings in the gaming space today with the launch of our DraftKings Casino app, the company's first perennial product that operates year-round irrespective of the annual sports schedules,” Jason March, DraftKings’ VP of gaming, said in a press release. “Following our debut in the Garden State, we look forward to continued innovation, nationwide expansion where regulations allow, and to further positioning DraftKings as an all-inclusive gaming and entertainment experience.”
