Austin FC Targeting March Completion Of New Training Facility

Construction has started on MLS expansion club Austin FC's $45M St. David's Performance Center, which "will house the first team and academy in Northeast Austin," according to Chris Bils of the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN. Austin FC President Andy Loughnane said that completion of the project is "scheduled for between March 1 and March 15." Bils notes the groundbreaking yesterday was "marked by a quiet photo shoot with participants observing social distancing and face-covering protocols." The training facility, designed by Gensler and with construction management led by Harvey Cleary, will have "two buildings, one for the first team and one for the academy, with a combined footprint of 30,000 square feet." There will be "four full-sized fields, including one artificial surface pitch with seating and concessions meant to serve about 1,000 spectators" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 6/23).
