FC Cincinnati Terminates Streaming Deal With FloSports

Major League Soccer’s newest team will no longer stream locally-televised games on subscription streaming service FloSports. FC Cincinnati matches that are not broadcast nationally this year will instead stream for free on the club’s website when the season restarts.

Only viewers located within the club’s regional broadcast territory, which includes the Cincinnati, Dayton, eastern Indiana, Lexington and Louisville metro regions, will be able to stream games on FCCincinnati.com. Fans outside this area will only be able to watch those games on ESPN+. Matches are also locally televised on WSTR Star 64, but the team’s contract with that station expires at the end of this year.

FC Cincinnati is the second MLS club to prematurely terminate its local streaming contract with FloSports after D.C. United did the same last October. That cancellation came after complaints from fans that geo-location errors prevented them from watching games even though they lived within the covered area.

FloSports and FC Cincinnati had signed a multi-year deal in 2019. The company will now offer refunds to fans who purchased a subscription to watch FC Cincinnati.
