Comcast NBCUniversal Adds USA Cycling to SportsTech Accelerator

USA Cycling has partnered with Comcast NBCUniversal’s SportsTech accelerator. It becomes the third national governing body from the U.S. Olympic Committee to join with the accelerator, following USA Swimming and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. USA Cycling will help to identify and invest in cycling-related tech startups.

Comcast SportsTech aims to find early-stage startups focused on athlete performance and fan engagement. Its 12-week mentorship program launched in January and is committed to providing $50,000 in funding to 10 startups. Existing partners in the initiative include Comcast-owned sports media properties NBC Sports, Sky Sports and Golf Channel, as well as Boomtown Accelerators and NASCAR.

“We look forward to partnering with Comcast and Boomtown to provide our athletes with the best tools and tech to perform at the highest level. We are always looking toward innovation to engage our current members, future fans and improve USA Cycling’s contribution to the sport,” said Bouker Pool, chief commercial officer for USA Cycling, in a press release.
