Two Investors Consider Joining Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez' Mets Bid

Investment bank Galatioto Sports Partners is "working with two investors who are considering investing" up to a combined $250M with Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez for their Mets bid, according to a source cited by Kosman & McEnery of the N.Y. POST. GSP also represented the 76ers in their '11 sale to private equity billionaire Josh Harris, who is "now bidding for the Mets." Sources said that Rodriguez and Lopez' deal with GSP is "in the works" (N.Y. POST, 6/17). Meanwhile, SPORTICO's Scott Soshnick cited sources as saying that the Mets are "seeking to extend their existing credit facilities for one year, giving the team's owners a cushion while they seek a buyer amid a pandemic." Sources said that the club's $250M loan led by JPMorgan Chase & Co. is "scheduled to expire at the end of July." A source said that the Wilpon family, which owns the Mets, is "seeking to push the term to July 31, 2021" (VARIETY.com, 6/16).
