Knicks Owner's Lacking Response To Social Injustice Reflects Organization

Knicks Owner James Dolan's response to the death of George Floyd, or lack of response, "tells you plenty about Dolan's Knicks" -- not just what the team has become but "who they are," according to Mike Lupica of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. This is just the "latest example of the toxic ineptness of this organization, for such a long time, an organization that doesn't sell a real vision." Lupica: "You see how well it's working. Modern players are smart. You think they don't see what goes on here? You think they don't see why fans keep chanting at Dolan to sell his basketball team?" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/14). In N.Y., Marc Berman noted Translation Founder & CEO Steve Stoute is in his fifth month "working as a Knicks branding consultant in charge of improving the images of James Dolan and the Knicks," but he "couldn't prevent the recent Statementgate." Stoute is "involved and had a hand in Dolan finally releasing Tuesday's statement related to the Black Lives Matter movement -- which was purposely distributed on the day of George Floyd's funeral." Hired on Jan. 23, Stoute has "made no headway nor has he done himself any favors" (N.Y. POST, 6/14).
