Las Vegas People-Mover Could Link To Allegiant Stadium By '21

Elon Musk's underground people-mover system "could link" Las Vegas Convention Center and the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium "as early as the start of the 2021 NFL season," according to Mick Akers of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill said, "If things go well, by the next football season (2021), we would be able to connect to the stadium." No cost estimate for the system "was provided." Hill said that Musk's The Boring Company "will be responsible for the costs," though resort properties and the stadium "may also chip in." Akers notes TBC currently is constructing a "tunnel loop system as part of the convention center’s expansion project," to be completed in January '21. The $55M system "will transport guests around the vast campus of the convention center using Tesla model vehicles that can fit up to 16 people each." The holdup to the Allegiant Stadium people-mover "will be in planning the route and stations at the various resort properties en route from the convention center, located near the north end of the strip, and the stadium, located near the south end." Having the system link the convention center and the resort corridor "would open up a plethora of parking options for those looking to attend events at the stadium" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 6/11).

BLACK & SILVER DIGS: The REVIEW-JOURNAL's Akers reports crews at Allegiant Stadium yesterday "gave an early glimpse" of what the 65,000-seat facility "will look like on Raiders game days." The team's pirate shield logo "could be seen" inside the stadium, "marking the first time the team’s logo was laid on the facility’s floor." The venue's artificial turf "won’t be used during Raiders game days," but "will serve as a cosmetic feature when the team provides tours of the stadium." The Raiders "will play on a grass field" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 6/11).
