USTA Shuffling Tournament Directors At Two Major Events

The USTA is shuffling tournament directors for two of its marquee events after a week that saw 110 employees laid off. USTA Chief Exec of Professional Tennis STACEY ALLASTER was named the new Tournament Dir of the U.S. Open this week, according to several sources. Allaster, the former CEO of the WTA Tour from '09-15, replaces DAVID BREWER. Brewer retired after last year's U.S. Open, following 20-plus years with the USTA. Allaster becomes the first female Tournament Dir for the U.S. Open. Also, Western & Southern CEO and Tournament Dir ANDRE SILVA is taking the Tournament Dir job at the PGA Tour's Players Championship, effective June 16. The PGA Tour confirmed that news this morning. Sources said that USTA Managing Dir for Major Events J. WAYNE RICHMOND is a possible candidate for Tournament Dir of the combined WTA/ATP Western & Southern Open, of which USTA is majority owner. Silva will replace RYAN HART as Players Championship Tournament Dir. Hart is transitioning to a new position within the tournament's management. Silva will report to Players Championship Exec Dir JARED RICE. The USTA did not respond to a request for comment.
