Blast Motion Partners With Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association

Blast Motion has partnered with the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association to become the organization’s official swing analysis technology. More than 3,700 coaches and scouts involved in Texas’s high school baseball community are members of the THSBCA.

Blast Motion’s motion sensors can attach to baseball and softball bats to measure hitting metrics such as launch angle, exit velocity and ball speed, and estimate ball flight distance. The company’s mobile app generates personalized swing quality assessments and 3D swing tracer visualizations. Users can overlay data on top of video of their swings inside the app.

Since the coronavirus pandemic has forced many athletes to train at home in isolation, Blast Motion’s new multiyear partnership with the THSBCA includes offering Texas high school baseball players the chance to participate in virtual hitting competitions. The online competitions organized by Blast will let players compare their swings to their peers while showcasing their skills to coaches and scouts.

“When coaches use Blast with their teams, we’re enabling them to have access to the same swing analysis information used by MLB teams. They also get a chance to work with players while they are away from the field, allowing them to help hold players accountable for their own individual training,”  Rex Sanders, executive director at THSBCA, said in a press release.

While MLB teams use Blast Motion in training, the bat sensors are still not allowed in big league games. The technology has been permitted to be used during games at all minor league levels since 2019. Blast also has partnerships with Prep Baseball Report, AAU, USA Softball, and the PacWest collegiate conference.
