Orlando Magic, Ballogy to Run Virtual Youth Training Camps

The Orlando Magic has partnered with Ballogy to run virtual training camps for youth players throughout June. The live video training sessions will be conducted both on Zoom and via Ballogy’s mobile app. Camps will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, and begin on June 1.

The camps are being organized by the Orlando Magic Youth Basketball Academy and are aimed at boys and girls ages 6 through 17. Users must own a smartphone, tablet or computer and a basketball, but don’t need access to a hoop—though those with a hoop will be able to participate in additional workouts.

Coaches from the Magic’s youth academy will host Zoom sessions for all campers to participate in warmups and group drills. Players will also be able to input their own individual training results and gain feedback on their performance through the Ballogy iOS or Android app.

Participants must register online and pay a $50 fee for each week of the virtual training. However, sponsor UnitedHealthcare is providing 50 full scholarship opportunities for children to attend. Through registering for the camp, participants will also receive a kit consisting of Magic gear and a free ticket to a home game for the 2020-21 NBA season.

After COVID-19 suspended athletic programs across the world, Ballogy formed partnerships with organizations such as Hoop Group and The Basketball Embassy to provide virtual basketball training for youth athletes. In 2018, Ballogy also partnered with the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs to track players at the team’s youth clinics.
