Pistons Host Virtual Activities, Community Events To Engage Fans

The Pistons have "maintained a steady stream of virtual activities over the past few weeks, keeping their fans engaged through several outlets," according to Rod Beard of the DETROIT NEWS. Last week alone, the team had "three community events, including the latest installment in their 'Girls Dream Big' speaker series, a panel discussion for Mental Health Awareness Month and a virtual yoga session." One of the "cornerstones of the Pistons' efforts is the 'Girls Dream Big' series, which spanned four Thursdays," starting May 14. The first session "focused on women in sports" and included Gold Medal-winning U.S. ice dancer Meryl Davis, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert and former WNBA Detroit Shock G Deanna Nolan. The theme for the second week was "media and entertainment" and was headlined by journalist Jemele Hill. Last week's edition "focused on leadership" and included Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, U.S. fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad and Gold Medal-winning U.S. soccer player Lauren Holiday. This week's final segment "will highlight women in entrepreneurship." The Pistons also are "planning several events aimed at the LGBTQ community during Pride Month" this month, in addition to a "virtual 5K and a Detroit Bike Tour and scavenger hunt, which are scheduled for July and August" (DETROIT NEWS, 5/30).
