Topgolf, Golf Scope Launch Pro Putt VR Game for Oculus Quest

Topgolf and Golf Scope have created a new virtual reality golf game on Facebook’s Oculus VR platform called Pro Putt. The game incorporates features from Golf Scope’s namesake app and also from its Simply Putting app. Though the game itself retails for $19.99, users would need an Oculus Quest headset and controller to play, costing at least $399.

Players do not see themselves in the game, but are represented by animated golf clubs that follow their motions. Pro Putt users can play by themselves or share a course alongside their friends who also have an Oculus setup. On the course, a player’s digital club avatar reacts when a putt is made or missed and can interact with nearby players.

"We are constantly looking for innovative ways to introduce the game of golf and Topgolf to people and embrace new platforms. We are thrilled to partner with Golf Scope to launch the Pro Putt game on Oculus Quest," said YuChiang Cheng, president of Topgolf Media, in a press release. "This is the perfect time to virtually connect people together to play and have fun.”

Inside Pro Putt, players can choose from four different Topgolf games to play different virtual courses, and try to complete varying challenges to win in-game goods such as decorated golf balls. Pro Putt tracks a user’s performance and ranks players on an in-game leaderboard.

Topgolf recently partnered with the LPGA Tour in a separate gaming venture. The LPGA eTour features professional women’s golfers competing against each other from their homes on Topgolf’s World Golf Tour online video game. The eTour will conclude with a championship match on June 3.
