Annika Sorenstam To Award $50,000 In Grants To Symetra Tour Players

Annika Sorenstam will "award $50,000 in grants to current Symetra Tour players through her foundation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic." The new ANNIKA Foundation Crisis Relief Fund "plans to give 100 players grants in the amount of $500 each." The Symetra Tour held one event in March before the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. The tour has 10 tournaments on its schedule (GOLFWEEK.com, 5/29).

HELPING HAND: Dodgers P David Price will "pay $1,000 out of his own money to each Dodgers minor leaguer who is not on the 40-man roster during the month of June." Under a March agreement with MLB, minor leaguers "have been receiving financial assistance that is set to expire at the end of May" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 5/29)....Pistons coach Dwane Casey and his family have "donated to nonprofit Focus: Hope." The donation will "aid the nonprofit's Food For Seniors and Early Learning programs." The size of the donation "is unknown" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 5/29).
