Sources: Tiger, Phil Under Contract For One More Golf Exhibition

Given the success of Sunday's match, it is easy to see why all sides would want a third eventGETTY IMAGES

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are under contract to participate in one more golf exhibition with Turner Sports, according to sources. Sources added that while it is likely that a third exhibition will take place within the next 12-18 months, Turner and the golfers each reserve the right to pull out of the deal. As part of the original deal, all three events were supposed to be delivered via pay-per-view. However, Turner ended up showing Sunday’s event on four of its cable TV channels. Given the success, it is easy to see why all sides would want to put a third event on the calendar. But sources cautioned that "The Match II" -- coming in the middle of a sports shutdown with a foursome that displayed incredible chemistry -- essentially caught lightning in a bottle. Expect Turner -- and others -- to use a similar format at some point (John Ourand, SBJ Media).

TIGER TIME: GOLFWEEK's Adam Schupak noted Woods’ life is "set to be examined in an HBO documentary." Appearing on the podcast “Burst Your Bubble,” journalist Armen Keteyian said that “Tiger Woods,” the book he co-authored with Jeff Benedict in '18, is being "made into a two-part, four-hour-long DocuSeries that is expected to air later this year on HBO." Keteyian said, "Don’t be surprised if it airs right around the Masters in November." He added that CBS golf analyst Nick Faldo, HBO Sports' Bryant Gumbel and others "will make appearances" (GOLFWEEK.com, 5/27).
