Cowboys Readying Several Options For Training Camp

Oxnard city officials are trying to work with the Cowboys to make training camp possibleGETTY IMAGES

The Cowboys' training camp in Oxnard, Calif., "may still happen," but the team "wants several options ready for when the NFL releases its practice and season decision," according to Mike Doocy of Dallas-based KDFW-Fox. Oxnard city officials are "trying to work with the Cowboys to make it happen," but due to the pandemic, that "may not be possible." The "most obvious backup training camp option" would be at the team's HQ at The Star in Frisco, which has an "indoor facility, two outdoor fields, and the rest of the infrastructure in place." Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on the team's plans said, "We're planning on a full training camp, we’re also planning for a training camp in Oxnard, we're planning for the training camp in Frisco" (FOX4NEWS.com, 5/27).

LIONS, PANTHERS COULD BE ON MOVE: PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio cited sources as saying that the Lions and Panthers have "received proposals from The Greenbrier resort" in West Virginia for their '20 training camps. One source said that Panthers are "considering a relocation in and around the scheduled arrival of the Republican National Convention in Charlotte, in late August." Florio: "In theory, the Lions (or some other team) could conduct camp at The Greenbrier and the Panthers could follow the Lions (or some other team) for sessions late in the preseason preparation process" (NBCSPORTS.com, 5/26
