ACC Network Revenues Help Conference Nearly Break Even

The ACC will distribute 98% of its "planned payments to member schools this spring" despite the loss of "most of the ACC tournament and a substantial portion of NCAA tournament revenue," according to Luke DeCock of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER. ACC Commissioner John Swofford on Thursday, at the conclusion of the conference's spring meeting, indicated that reduced expenses amid the cancellation of spring sports and "better-than-expected ACC Network revenues allowed the conference to essentially break even on the 2019-20 fiscal year even with the disruption." Swofford said, "ESPN has paid us in full on the base agreement of our arrangement for the 2019-20 year, so we're certainly in decent shape, sound shape financially coming out of this year. What we're doing going forward is establishing a base budget approved at these meetings, and work from that on different scenarios that could come into play" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 5/15).
