Justin Thomas Lands On Cover Of "PGA Tour 2K21" Video Game

Golfer Justin Thomas "made the cover of the 'PGA Tour 2K21' video game," set to be released Aug. 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to Dan Gelston of the AP. The game "includes 15 licensed PGA Tour courses, each of which was scanned using advanced technology to bring the fairways, greens, bunkers, trees, lakes and ponds to life." This comes as golf video games have "struggled for years." EA Sports had a PGA license for the Tiger Woods series that was a "massive hit in the 2000s," then produced a one-off with Rory McIlroy as the namesake in '15 "before the series went dry." There has been "demand for a PGA-official game." HB Studios last year produced "The Golf Club 2019," and the title was a "hit, but did not feature any PGA Tour players" (AP, 5/14). GOLF.com's Sean Zak notes Thomas "will be joined by 11 other pros, who will be announced at a later date." Each player will "represent a different challenge to gamers as they progress through the game's 'Career Mode'" (GOLF.com, 5/14).
