Blackhawks May Not Be Naming A New President Anytime Soon

It is unlikely the Blackhawks will name a new President "over the next three months" to fill the vacancy created when John McDonough was let go last month, according to NBC Sports Chicago's Pat Boyle. The Blackhawks are in "internal evaluation mode right now" and the current leadership team, led by Senior VP & GM Stan Bowman, "could operate the team for up to six months and the team is not feeling pressured to get a new president installed before the draft." While this internal evaluation is ongoing, it appears the current hockey ops group led by Bowman is "going to handle the upcoming NHL Draft whenever that draft is." Boyle: "We saw how the McDonough decision came down. Things changed over a five or six week period there after [Blackhawks Chair Rocky Wirtz] gave the front office an endorsement, including McDonough. ... When this decision is made, expect things to happen very rapidly" ("Blackhawks Talk Podcast," NBCSPORTS.com, 5/11).
