Titans Make Burke Nihill President & CEO, Replacing Steve Underwood

Titans Senior VP/Business Operations and Chief Legal Officer Burke Nihill is being "elevated to fill" team President & CEO Steve Underwood's role, according to Erik Bacharach of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Nihill is in his fifth season with the team and was promoted to his current role in February. Underwood announced his retirement on Friday, saying he "just thought that this was a good time" and adding that Titans Controlling Owner Amy Adams Strunk agreed. Underwood: "I'll be 69 in October, and at some point, we need to pass the torch to the next generation. Burke will do an outstanding job as president. He has the kind of character and integrity to make that work." Bacharach noted Nihill, 41, was "responsible for the organization's legal, human resources and government relations functions." Following his February promotion, he "began overseeing stadium and facility operations." He joined the Titans in '16, "bringing with him 15 years of experience as an attorney and strategic business counselor with companies ranging from technology startups to Fortune 500 businesses." Nihill also "played an important role in securing and executing" the '19 NFL Draft in Nashville, and he is "overseeing the renovation and expansion of Saint Thomas Sports Park" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 5/9).
