Franchise Notes

In Boston, Kevin Paul Dupont reported up to 1,500 idled TD Garden workers will "start drawing down any day now" from the $1.5M pot that Bruins ownership "agreed to set aside in the weeks following the start of the lockdown." Three groups "will receive checks from Delaware North, including the concessionaires (Sportservice), as well as employees of the Garden and the Bruins." It is expected that all workers "will receive a reduced base payment, while select others are awarded substantially more." Security and cleaning employees "will be excluded because they work for companies not owned by Delaware North" (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/9).

TEMPORARY DIGS: In Las Vegas, Vincent Bonsignore wrote if the Rams and Chargers "don’t get the green light to host games until October -- but the NFL remains intent on forging ahead with its season -- it would mean both teams would need to find temporary nearby venues." Allegiant Stadium "makes sense as a temporary home ... until SoFi Stadium is cleared to host." Rams COO Kevin Demoff said that his team's objective is to "play all its home games as scheduled" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 5/9). In L.A., Gary Klein wrote under the header, "Thoughts Of Opening SoFi Stadium Minus Fans Brings An Empty Feeling" (L.A. TIMES, 5/9).

MISSING SHAD: In Jacksonville, Sam Kouvaris wondered, "Where's Shad Khan?" The Jaguars owner was "conspicuously absent" from the team's landscape last week when it was confirmed that the NFL Int'l Series was canceled for '20. Kouvaris: "I’m sure he’s fully immersed in trying to keep his companies and employees fed and clothed and back on their feet as soon as possible. But we need some of that. From him." More Kouvaris: "We want to see more of you, Shad. A quick video of encouragement in these tough times from a man of your stature would go a long way. Comments from your surrogates are fine, but our connection is with you" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 5/10).
