Thunder Among NBA Teams Now Offering Refund Options

The Thunder emailed season-ticket holders Wednesday with "refund options for the eight remaining home games," according to Joe Mussatto of the OKLAHOMAN. The value of the tickets "will either be reimbursed or used as credit" toward '20-21 season tickets. Thunder VP/Broadcasting & Corporate Communications Dan Mahoney said an "overwhelming majority" of fans opted to apply the money as credit for season tickets next year. Mussatto notes a "little more than 14,000 seats at Chesapeake Energy Arena are sold as season tickets." Meanwhile, Ticketmaster also is "offering refunds" for Thunder games. Fans who "purchased tickets through third-party sites will have to contact those vendors for details" (OKLAHOMAN, 5/8).

BOSTON STRONG: In Boston, Adam Himmelsbach reports the Celtics are "informing season-ticket holders of compensation options for the nine remaining regular-season home games" in the '19-20 season. Season-ticket holders "will have the option of being fully refunded or carrying over the credit to next season," with a 10% bonus added. The Celtics have a "pay-as-you-go plan for the postseason, so they had yet to collect money from fans for this season's playoffs" (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/8).

HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES: In Utah, Sarah Todd noted although games have not been officially canceled, the Jazz are "offering an array of refund and credit options" for the remainder of this season. Season-ticket holders can "choose to be refunded in full by way of their original payment; have the credit for the remaining home games applied to next season’s balance if they already opted in for season ticket renewal, lessening the amount due equally across each remaining payment; roll the postponed games credit into an account to be used for tickets for next season, including mini-plans and single-game tickets; receive a refund on a gift card to the Jazz Team Store; or receive a refund on a Megaplex gift card" (DESERET NEWS, 5/7).
