Saints Donate Food To Rival Cities As Part Of '20 Schedule Reveal

The Saints on the NFL's schedule release day "pivoted from on-the-field highlights and signature calls from team play-by-play announcer, Zach Strief, to shots of restauranteurs in four cities around the country delivering food to healthcare workers, first responders and other essential workers" in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and Philadelphia, four cities on the team's '20 schedule. The Saints "purchased pizza" in Detroit and Chicago, purchased Philly cheesesteaks in Philadelphia and "bought turkey spaghetti from Kelz Kitchen and delivered it to police officers" in Atlanta (NOLA.com, 5/7). 

AROUND THE SPORTS WORLDPegula Sports & Entertainment, in partnership with the Bills and Sabres foundations, is committing $50,000 to the Rochester community (PSE)....Dwyane Wade, along with Heat F Udonis Haslemon Wednesday "fed hundreds of front-line workers in South Florida." The pair, via their 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen, "gave out meals to two Miami–Dade County police stations" (N.Y. POST, 5/7)....Angels manager Joe Maddon’s Respect 90 Foundation is "donating $30,000 to Tampa’s Metropolitan Ministries as part of a $120,000 commitment to coronavirus relief efforts" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 5/8)....UFC fighter Jon Jones this week "donated $25,000 to The Food Depot of Northern New Mexico -- a donation the food bank says can help provide about 100,000 meals" (ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL, 5/8).

JETS, EAGLES CHIP IN: Jets LB C.J. Mosley "recorded a video message for the students at Floral Park High School, congratulating the seniors who are graduating and trying to lift their spirits after the rest of the school year" was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic (NEWSDAY, 5/7)....Jets WR Breshad Perriman "partnered with UnitedHealthcare of New Jersey and the Dreambuilders Foundation to donate $17,000 to the YMCA of Newark and Vicinity" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 5/8)....Eagles QB Carson Wentz has "put together an all-day fundraiser scheduled for Friday to raise money to provide food for needy people during the COVID-19 pandemic" (NBCSPORTSPHILADELPHIA.com, 5/7).
