Dolphins Mock Up New Plan For Fans Entering Hard Rock Stadium

The Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium are “doing everything they can to safely prepare for the 2020 season,” including potentially installing a new plan for fans as they enter the stadium, according to ABC’s Victor Oquendo. Dolphins President Tom Garfinkel indicated the team could stagger the entry of fans into the stadium to adhere to social distancing protocols. He said, “We would have times to come in for security at different gates so people would be separated out in terms of when they enter the stadium. We would exit the stadium much like a church environment where each row exits so people aren't filing out all at the same time in a hurry.” Oquendo noted Hark Rock Stadium seats 65,000 fans, but the Dolphins “might be down to 15,000 fans for the next season” (“GMA,” ABC, 5/4). ESPN.com’s Cameron Wolfe reports the mock-up includes “colored spots on the ground leading up to entrance gates to designate the distance needed between fans as they file into the stadium.” Garfinkel said that the mock-up plan “would include all fans wearing masks and ordering food from their seat then go upstairs and pick it up rather than waiting in line for concession.” While there has not been “any finalized plans from the NFL” about adjusting the entry plan, the Dolphins “wanted to have their plan in place” (ESPN.com, 5/4).
