EA and Google Partner to Bring Five Titles to Stadia

Electronic Arts has reached an agreement with Google to bring five video games to Stadia, a cloud-based gaming platform launched by Google last November. The confirmed games include EA’s FIFA, Madden NFL, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Those three games are expected to launch on Stadia this winter, with more titles to be added in 2021, according to an announcement from Google and EA. Stadia allows users to play games on TVs, laptops, desktops, select tablets and mobile phones.

“Cloud is opening up exciting new possibilities for play,” Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, said in a press release. “In partnering with Google Stadia, we have an opportunity to deliver some creative and innovative game experiences on an exciting new platform.”

Google is part of an emerging market of new cloud gaming platforms that includes Apple Arcade and Microsoft’s xCloud. According to The New York Times, Amazon is developing its own cloud gaming service called “Project Tempo.” Facebook also recently launched Facebook Gaming, a new mobile app for streaming games and watching others broadcast themselves playing games. The app will rival Amazon-owned Twitch, Google’s YouTube, and Microsoft-owned Mixer.
