Falcons Fans Purchasing Team's New Jerseys In Droves

The new jerseys led to Tuesday being the third-best merchandise sales day in Falcons historyFALCONS

The Falcons' new jerseys went on sale Tuesday, and team officials said that they "scored big numbers on opening day," according to Tim Tucker of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. Falcons VP & CMO Morgan Shaw Parker noted, "It was the No. 1 day all-time online (for Falcons jersey sales)." Parker added that although the team’s merchandise stores currently are "closed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Atlantic Station, online jersey sales were so strong that Tuesday was 'the third highest total sales day in Falcons history, only behind the NFC Championship (in January 2017) and the one day following that.'" She added that Tuesday’s online sales were "higher than the Falcons’ record for single-day in-store sales." Parker also noted that the Falcons' black home jerseys "accounted for 50% of the first-day sales, while white jerseys accounted for 26% and the gradient red-and-black jerseys 21%" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 4/16).

PAYING HOMAGE: In Akron, Nate Ulrich notes the Browns' new uniforms have a "classic look, a nod to the franchise's glory days." The uniforms are "inspired by the Browns' AAFC and NFL championship teams of the 1940s, '50s and '60s ... and the organization's memorable run through the mid-80s." The updated uniforms "feature brown jerseys with white numbers and white jerseys with brown numbers to be worn with brown or white pants, both of which have a brown stripe and sandwiched by two orange stripes running down the side of the leg." The most common combinations "will be brown jerseys with white pants and white jerseys with brown pants" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 4/16). In Cleveland, Dan Labbe writes the uniforms are "simple and to the point." The Browns "will look like the Browns again when they take the field." They "got it right" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/16).
