ScoreVision Acquires Fantag, Integrating Mobile Video to Scoreboard Platform

Video management platform Fantag has been acquired by ScoreVision, which powers multimedia LED scoreboards as well as scorekeeping apps for indoor and outdoor sporting events across the U.S. Fantag CEO John Stone, a former Apple VP, will join now ScoreVision’s board.

Fantag’s mobile app is capable of live streaming sporting events. While recording in the app, users can tap a button to jump back 15 seconds and create a shareable video highlight. The technology will now be integrated into ScoreVision.

“The acquisition of Fantag and the addition of their talented team will allow us to unveil more video experiences in our cloud-based software that meet and exceed the needs of our current and future customers—and truly change the industry,” said ScoreVision’s president Michael Medrano in a press release.

Stone explained to SportTechie that Fantag employees will join “ScoreVision as its video solutions team and will provide a west coast presence for business operations.”

Fantag partnered with Sinclair Broadcast Group in 2018 to synchronize its automated highlights system with high school football broadcasters. It previously formed an advisory board that included Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young and Pat Talamantes, who had served as CEO of The McClatchy Company.
