PLL Deliberates Scenarios For Starting Season; Rabil Confident

The PLL's tour-based model provides some flexibility compared with a traditional home/away scheduleGETTY IMAGES

The Premier Lacrosse League announced it would postpone the start of its season, but league co-Founder Paul Rabil said he is "confident" in a full slate of games, according to Matt Kinnear of INSIDE LACROSSE. The PLL was "set to begin May 29-30 at Gillette Stadium," and ultimately there are "three scenarios" for play the PLL is mapping out. The season "could see a full slate of games with a delayed start, a partial slate of games with a delayed start, or, there could be some sort of 'quarantine tournament' as has been promoted by other sports' leagues." Strategies with fans and without fans are "being considered," as Rabil and the PLL "consult the health organizations, league stakeholders and other pro sports organizations including the NBA to make a safe decision going forward." The tour-based model "does provide some flexibility compared with a traditional home/away schedule, so visits to venues can be played at different weeks depending on how things shake out." Rabil said that there have "not been negative effects on sales and sponsorships so far due to the pandemic" (INSIDELACROSSE.com, 4/10).
