Ohio University Launches a Sports Gambling Education Certificate Program

Ohio University has launched a Sports Gambling Education certificate program, one of the first programs of its kind to be offered in the U.S. The university has partnered with sports betting monitoring service U.S. Integrity and online education platform Cyanna to launch the program.

The three-part certificate program will begin in May and will be offered entirely online as part of Ohio University’s AECOM Center for Sports Administration. The certificate will consist of three courses covering topics related to preventing, identifying and reacting to sports betting fraud. Interested students can RSVP now to receive more information about the online program when enrollment begins.

“This program is going to help educate coaches, students, and administrators on how to prevent, identify, and react to instances of sports-betting fraud. The curriculum has been developed by a talented group of leaders in the industry, and we are excited to bring that knowledge and experience to the field,” Jim Kahler, executive director of Ohio University’s AECOM Center for Sports Administration, said in a press release.

U.S. Integrity is based in Las Vegas and offers a 24/7 sports wagering activity monitoring system driven by its proprietary computer algorithms. Courses will include lessons from industry leaders such as U.S. Integrity president Matt Holt and former American Gaming Association SVP Sara Slane. Last year, the NHL hired Slane as a consultant to advise the league on its betting strategy.
