Browns COO David Jenkins Talks Adjustments Around Virus Effects

Browns owners told ticket holders on March 23 that they expect to have a full seasonGETTY IMAGES

Browns COO David Jenkins has been forced to adjust to a new way of doing things and is "working with season ticket members" to assist them during the coronavirus pandemic, according to Dan Labbe of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Browns Owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, along with Whitney and JW Johnson, "sent a letter to season ticket members and other stakeholders on March 23 stating they expect to have a full season." Jenkins followed it up with a letter "specifically for season ticket members regarding payments due and acknowledging unique challenges faced by some members." Jenkins said that there is an "expectation among the ticket sales team to build relationships with members and times like this are when those relationships become important." Labbe noted the team also is "missing out on certain key events." The Browns Foundation charity golf outing, a marquee offseason fundraiser, "has been canceled," and there "won't be a draft party as in years past." The team has "increased a reliance on social and digital media and has forced the team and its partners to try to come up with new ways to connect with fans." Jenkins said of potentially no training camp or a camp closed to fans, "Losing that would be tough but we will always follow the lead of the healthcare professionals." Meanwhile, Labbe noted one event that "will go off this month: the uniform reveal" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/7).
