Magic Continue Plans For $70M Downtown Training Facility Project

The Magic have "not let the coronavirus slow down its efforts to build a new downtown training facility," as the $70M project, set to go before the Orlando municipal planning board on May 19, is "aiming for a June construction start and a completion" by September '21, according to Richard Bilbao of the ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL. The construction costs alone for the 130,000-square-foot facility will run $45M, and the building "will be built just north of the Amway Center." The proposed training facility "will take up 100,000 square feet of the building." The Magic "will lease the other 30,000 square feet of the building to a medical service provider, which will offer sports medicine and athletic care, including preventive and rehabilitative treatment and sports performance training" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/7).
