10 Early Stage Startups Selected for SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator Program

Techstars announced that 10 early-stage startups have been accepted into its inaugural SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator program. The startups hail from Australia, Spain, Germany, Austria, India, the U.S., and Canada.

The Melbourne accelerator was announced last July and was originally planned to start this March. Due to COVID-19, however, the mentorship-driven program will now start June 1 and run for two months before ending with a demo-day. Corporate partners backing the Techstars SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator program include Tennis Australia, Victoria University, and the government-backed startup agency LaunchVic.

“We are on a search for the most exciting early-stage SportsTech companies with the greatest potential anywhere around the globe right now. Ideally that tech will have some application to the business of Tennis Australia now or in the future—be that to do with major events, mass participation, or for the elite athlete,” Todd Deacon, managing director of Techstars SportsTech Melbourne, told the Techstars website in early March.

The 10 accepted startups include 3D camera app MODU, sports education app Elanation, swing analysis platform SwingVision, TV-mobile phone connection app Snapscreen, gamified fitness app A-Champs, cricket swing analysis platform Str8bat, interactive video training platform gameSense Sports, youth mental coaching app Fitmind, tennis equipment brand Tenx, and sports sponsorship management platform MyFavorito

The Melbourne-based program will be Techstars’ second sports-tech focused accelerator. The company also launched an Indianapolis-based accelerator in June.
