Astros Seek To Move, Dismiss Bolsinger's Sign-Stealing Lawsuit

The Astros have asked an L.A. Superior Court judge to "dismiss a lawsuit" filed against the team, Owner Jim Crane and Dir of Team Operations Derek Vigoa by former Blue Jays P Mike Bolsinger, who "says his career was ruined" by the Astros' sign-stealing scheme during the '17 and '18 seasons, according to David Barron of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The motion notes the case is "utterly devoid of merit." It also said that California is "not the proper venue and that Bolsinger's suit should be dismissed or stayed until it can be resolved by a court in Texas." The lawsuit seeks the return of $31.5M in "bonuses awarded to the Astros" after winning the '17 World Series for "use as charitable grants to youth baseball development" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/1). Meanwhile, Crane in another legal filing on Monday wrote that MLB "exonerated" him in the team's sign-stealing scandal and therefore he is "immune from a lawsuit emanating from his team’s actions" (THEATHLETIC.com, 3/31).
