PGA Tour Offers Golfers Cash Advances; Could Tiger and Mickelson Have a Rematch?

In a video sent to players on Saturday, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced details of a cash advance program for players and their caddies. The video was obtained by GOLF.com. The exact payouts will depend on current FedEx Cup standings, with those in the top 150 able to claim as much as $100,000 from projected season-ending bonuses. Players outside of that group can get advances on future earnings, claim from their retirement plans, or receive money from the PGA Tour Charitable and Education Fund. Caddies can get help from the Valspar Caddie Hat or the Caddie Benevolent Fund.

Elsewhere in the golf world, a fan asked Phil Mickelson on Twitter whether he could organize a one-on-one rematch against Tiger Woods to fill the sports vacuum. “We need live sports,” explained Chris Yurko.

Mickelson’s reply? “Working on it.”
