USSF President Cindy Parlow Cone Hopes To Bring Balance

Newly installed U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said that she now is "hoping to provide balance and consistency as the federation navigates unprecedented territory following the postponement" of the '20 Tokyo Games, according to Julia Poe of PRO SOCCER USA. Parlow Cone's former teammates and colleagues "described her as 'painfully honest' and 'even keeled'" (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 3/27). YAHOO SPORTS' Caitlin Murray wrote changing the personnel from former federation President Carlos Cordeiro "was the easy part," but the hard part is "fixing the problems that have either cropped up with U.S. Soccer or are afflicting the federation from the outside -- and there are many of those." By all accounts, both Parlow Cone and new CEO Will Wilson are "plenty capable of delivering." Murray suggested the execs first tackle these four tasks: settle the lawsuit with the USWNT, "repair the damage" from the equal pay lawsuit, "make reforms a priority," and be proactive about and figure out a path forward with the NWSL (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 3/28).
