Licht: Brady Pitched Himself To Bucs During Free Agency

Jason Licht noted he and Bucs coach Bruce Arians talked to Brady once the legal tampering period endedGETTY IMAGES

Buccaneers GM Jason Licht said Tom Brady pitched the team on him as much as the team lobbied Brady in the free agency period. Licht, appearing on ESPN's "Get Up" this morning, noted he and Bucs coach Bruce Arians talked to Brady once the legal tampering period ended and said, "We talked to him for over an hour and a half, and he made it clear in the conversation that he was very, very interested. It was almost like a recruitment on his part, telling us why it would make sense for him to come to Tampa Bay." Licht: "The following day we signed him, but it was at that phone call that we realized we felt like we had him." Licht said having Brady join the team "feels kind of like a dream." He said, "It was a great acquisition for us during this time when ... a lot of things are going on in the world with the health crisis. It's been a nice escape to know that we have Tom Brady" ("Get Up," ESPN, 3/30).
