Buccaneers Jersey Sales Continue To Rise After Tom Brady Signing

Fanatics said that Brady’s day-over-day jersey sales increased 900% on FridayFANATICS

Buccaneers fans have been "snapping up the latest apparel offerings concerning their newest player," Tom Brady, since news broke last Wednesday that he was signing with the team, according to Michael Silverman of the BOSTON GLOBE. Fanatics said that on Friday, Brady’s Bucs jerseys, both men’s and women’s, "counted for the top three selling products" across all of its networks. Fanatics also said that Brady’s day-over-day jersey sales "shot up" 900% on Friday, while the Bucs also were the "top-selling NFL team across the Fanatics network on Friday, with the Patriots second-best" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/24). In Tampa, Matt Baker notes another way to "quantify the Brady Bump" is Google data. Google Trends indicated that last week, the Bucs were the "most searched team in all of major American sports." Even more, there were "more Google searches on the Bucs last week than any other week in the last five years (at least)." Baker: "It’s not even that close." The previous high was in September '18, when QB Jameis Winston was "preparing to return from his three-game suspension for violating the league’s player conduct policy," but that peak still was 20% "shorter than the Brady Bump." In fact, the "Brady Bump is at least the second largest spike in Bucs searches" since '04. According to Google, that means that the Bucs are "more nationally relevant now than they have been in at least 16 years" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 3/24).
