Media Notes

THE ATHLETIC's Adam Snavely noted FC Dallas' Twitter account recently "just straight-up disappeared from the platform," but on Monday afternoon, it "reappeared as mysteriously as it had vanished." FC Dallas has "built a reputation of maintaining one of the more entertaining Twitter accounts among MLS clubs over the years, so this sudden disappearance was something of a mystery." Twitter "didn’t indicate whether the account was suspended." When it returned, the account "just carried on like nothing happened" (THEATHLETIC.com, 3/16).

ONE OF ONE: In Pittsburgh, Rob Owen reported Buffalo-based WIVB-CBS sports anchor/reporter Jenna Harner -- who has been with the upstate New York station for two years -- is preparing to "move to Pittsburgh to take over the weekend sports anchor/reporter role" at WPXI-NBC, effective April 1. Harner will be the "only woman to currently work on-air as a sports anchor/reporter on a local broadcast station" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/17).

FLYING HIGH: In St. Louis, Dan Caesar noted the presence of the XFL BattleHawks "marked a rousing return for pro football" to the city, as they "drew the best television rating of any sports team in the region on four of the five weekends in which they played." They were "No. 2 the other time." That is a "remarkable feat for a team that never had played a game until early last month, in a league that had been dormant for 19 years." The BattleHawks "all but once out-rated teams that have been around for at least half a century" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/13).
