Audience Analysis: XFL Week 5 Viewership 63% Below Week 1

The XFL is now averaging 1.87 million viewers through Week 5. The four games in Week 5 averaged 1.16 million viewers across Fox, ABC, ESPN and FS1, which is down 16% from Week 4 and down 63% from Week 1. Sunday’s games on ESPN and FS1 were the first to drop under 1 million viewers. ESPN in primetime averaged 833,000 viewers for Tampa Bay Vipers-L.A. Wildcats. Earlier in the 3:00pm ET window, FS1 averaged 767,000 viewers for St. Louis BattleHawks-DC Defenders. ABC and Fox on Saturday both had their least-watched XFL games to date.

DOWN ON TOBACCO ROAD: Duke's win over North Carolina on Saturday night averaged 2.23 million viewers on ESPN, marking the least-watched game in the matchup since the '11 ACC Championship, which drew 2.08 million on a Sunday afternoon. In terms of regular matchups for the longtime rivals, Saturday's game is the least-watched game in well over a decade.
