Senators Make Surprising Move In Firing Recently Hired CEO Jim Little

The Senators fired CEO Jim Little this morning, with the franchise citing "inconsistent" conduct with the core values of the NHL and the team, according to Adrian Humphreys of POSTMEDIA NEWS. Little's departure is "effective immediately." He was hired "less than two months ago" when Owner Eugene Melnyk announced Little's arrival as part of a "long-term strategy to redevelop and rebuild." The team said that other managers are covering Little's duties "until his replacement is announced, which is expected within a few weeks." The team has "not released details of incidents or circumstances" leading to the surprise announcement (POSTMEDIA NEWS, 3/4). The CP noted Little's firing continues a "trend of departures for club executives." In recent years, the Senators also have parted ways with top execs Nicolas Ruszkowski, Aimee Deziel, Tom Anselmi and Cyril Leeder (CP, 3/4).
