People & Personalities: Brewers' Bill Schroeder Returns After Surgery

In Milwaukee, Tom Haudricourt notes Brewers TV analyst Bill Schroeder has returned to the booth after he "spent nearly 12 hours on the operating table at Froedtert Hospital" on Dec. 23 for a "double bypass." Schroeder will be "cutting back on his schedule somewhat while still recovering." Former MLBer Jeff Cirillo "helped fill in on the initial broadcast and will do so with two others." As for the regular season, Schroeder said, "I'm going to take a few road trips off. ... I'm feeling really good about where I'm at, but I'll be taking a few trips off, at least, at the beginning of the year" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/28). 

JACK OF ALL TRADES: In St. Louis, Dan Caesar notes Cardinals TV play-by-play announcer Dan McLaughlin has "reached agreement to be a regular contributor" on ESPN Radio 101 St. Louis. In addition, McLaughlin will continue "broadcasting about 150" Cardinals games for FS Midwest and calling some St. Louis Univ. basketball contests for FSM, as well as podcasting. For ESPN Radio St. Louis, McLaughlin will "provide numerous reports to the station as well as host a one-hour weekly show about the team, and also fill-in on occasion when regular hosts are absent" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/28)

FROM PITCH TO BOOTH: In Boston, Chad Finn notes former MLSer Charlie Davies has been "selected to be the color analyst on Revolution broadcasts for NBC Sports Boston this season." Davies joins play-by-play voice Brad Feldman and sideline reporter Naoko Funayama. Former analyst Paul Mariner "will appear on select broadcasts" (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/28).
