Sources: Leon Rose To Take Over As Knicks President On Sunday

CAA agent Leon Rose is set to officially take over as Knicks Presidnt "on Sunday," according to sources cited by Marc Stein of the N.Y. TIMES. The Knicks have "not yet formally announced Rose’s hiring and may not do so until next week since Rose’s first day -- March 1 -- falls on a weekend." Rose is "expected to hire an experienced" head coach, with former Bulls and T'Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau "often mentioned in league coaching circles as a likely target." If the Knicks hire Thibodeau, a longtime client of Rose, it will "only amplify the perception that the franchise has punctuated years of ceding considerable influence to Rose’s former agency by turning to him to run their basketball operations." Rival teams and agents "have long questioned" the Knicks for allowing CAA to "hold significant sway over team decisions," dating to current Trail Blazers F Carmelo Anthony’s arrival from the Nuggets in '11 (N.Y. TIMES, 2/27). In N.Y., Stefan Bondy cites a source as saying that another CAA client, NBA G League Westchester Knicks GM Allan Houston, is "expected to be retained in the front office with increased responsibilities" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 2/27).
