Cristie Kerr Continues Slow Dive Into TV At Honda Classic

Kerr said she has been thinking about getting into broadcasting, but is not sure when that will beGETTY IMAGES

Cristie Kerr will make her third appearance with Golf Channel when the net's broadcast of the Honda Classic tees off tomorrow, but the move to the TV side is "more dipping toes in the water instead of a plunge" for the LPGA member, according to Doug Ferguson of the AP. Kerr said, "I struck up a friendship with Golf Channel recently thinking that I'm going to get into broadcasting, but I don't know when that is." Ferguson noted a break in the schedule "made the Honda Classic work," as Kerr was not eligible for three LPGA events that had been scheduled for Asia (they were cancelled due to the coronavirus). She said, "I thought about when it was good to work it into the schedule when it wouldn't impact my playing schedule." Ferguson noted Kerr has "never had a problem speaking her mind, sometimes without a filter," though she "hopes to have a filter until she finds her footing." Kerr: "I'm not putting myself out there until I know what the right and wrong things are. But I'll still have a point of view" (AP, 2/25).
