Seattle Dragons Tout Highest XFL Season-Ticket Sales

The XFL Seattle Dragons have sold more than 10,000 season tickets, "surpassing a season-ticket sales milestone" for the team, according to Scott Hanson of the SEATTLE TIMES. Dragons President Ryan Gustafson said, "We have had a spike in demand and we surged past 10,000 season tickets, which is an awesome story for us and the most in the league." The Dragons drew 29,172 for their first home game against the Tampa Bay Vipers. Gustafson said it "was an amazing start for us." He added, "That was an incredible atmosphere our fans created. It was a professional football game in Seattle and it felt that way." Gustafson also said that he "expects a crowd of more than 20,000" for Saturday's home game against the Dallas Renegades at CenturyLink Field (SEATTLE TIMES, 2/19). In Seattle, Ben Arthur noted Saturday's game featured many fans in team merchandise, while some "even wore Dragons costumes and face paint." The crowd noise may not have been at the level that the Seahawks and Sounders have "grown accustomed to for their biggest games," but it was "loud enough for the players to feel it." Seattle has "shown early on its willingness to get behind another team wholeheartedly" (SEATTLEPI.com, 2/18).
