Bulls Use All-Star Weekend To Search For New Front Office Member

Forman is not expected to be fired, and would instead be moved to the team's scouting departmentNBAE/GETTY IMAGES

Several NBA execs noted the Bulls are in the "early stages of adding a new face to the front office, with the position defined as a general manager 'with a louder voice,'" according to Joe Cowley of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. One exec said that the talks with candidates "have been through back channels, with no formal interviews taking place, but the search is believed to be widespread." It has been reported that Bulls GM Gar Forman's "job security was tenuous." But Forman is "not expected to be fired." Instead, he would be "moved to the scouting department, which the Bulls are looking to build up" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 2/17). In Chicago, K.C. Johnson cited sources as saying that Bulls President & COO Michael Reinsdorf used All-Star week to "continue seeking input from confidantes around the league on candidates for what one source described as 'an empowered presence' in the front office." While no final decisions have been made, the "expected addition would take on the day-to-day operations and become a fresh voice and face of the franchise" (NBCSPORTSCHICAGO.com, 2/16).
