NBA Agent Todd Ramasar Testing Sports Science Service With Clients

NBA player agent Todd Ramasar has been "assembling and making available to his clients a pit crew of physicians and physical therapists" since re-launching Life Sports Media & Entertainment in '16, according to Robert Litan of THE ATHLETIC. Ramasar makes this "training and health monitoring ecosystem" available to his clients at his expense, "principally in the offseason." Ramasar's dashboard -- developed by sports physiology company Orreco -- is a "software app, now in a beta test with elite NBA players." It provides a "player’s NBA schedule with countdowns to the next opponent, his travel schedule including travel miles over the next seven days, scouting reports, game preparation and recovery recommendations." Players can "monitor their blood levels and sleep patterns, and use the app to suggest what foods to take to reduce their stress levels, which Orreco’s research identifies to be a strong predictor of illness and future injuries within a period as short as the next two days." Athletes on the app can "track themselves and get immediate recommendations, or through quick calls with Orreco’s specialists, to help reduce injury risks." Funding comes from "athletes, the teams that have hired Orreco for advice" or Ramasar himself. He now is "studying how artificial intelligence and mind-body lessons from the Navy SEALs can be used to enhance athletic performance and, if so, how his clients can benefit" (THEATHLETIC.com, 2/12).
