Franchise Notes

THE ATHLETIC's Matt Pentz wrote although the Revolution, like "many of MLS's original franchises, has a reputation for being one of the league's more frugal organizations, there are tangible signs of change." The club unveiled its new $35M training facility in December, and with the recent acquisition of F Adam Buska, the Revolution now are "using all three of their designated player spots for the first time." Revolution Sporting Dir and coach Bruce Arena, who joined the club in '19, cited how the Revolution's ownership group "indicated that they were going to make a greater commitment for the team" as what led him to take the job (THEATHLETIC.com, 2/12).

PROS & CONS: In N.Y., Marc Stein wrote prospective Knicks President of Basketball Operations Leon Rose is a "well-liked, well-respected figure in the game, so on that basis you have to give this a chance." Maybe he can "bring the Knicks a measure of credibility they don't currently possess." However, there is "no shortage of skepticism around the league that Rose, with zero front-office experience, can really change" Knicks Owner James Dolan's universe (N.Y. TIMES, 2/12).

KEEPING TABS: SPORTSNET.ca's Elliotte Friedman noted if a Devils season ticket "goes unused two games in a row, the organization reaches out to learn why." The team "wants those tickets used, whether for personal, business or donation purposes" (SPORTSNET.ca, 2/12).
