NURVV Announces $9 Million Series A Round Led by Hiro Capital

Footwear sensor developer and connected coaching app NURVV has announced a $9 million Series A fundraising round led by Hiro Capital. The investment will help bring NURVV’s debut product, NURVV Run, to market globally and help fund more research and development into the company’s patented biomechanics sensor technologies.

NURVV Run insoles are each equipped with 16 sensors to measure each step while a user runs. The product also comes with two GPS tracking devices that clip onto each shoe. Running metrics tracked by NURVV include cadence, step length, pronation, training load, and symmetry. Users can view their real-time progress inside a mobile app available for iOS and Android devices.

During a run, NURVV’s AI coach will provide training feedback based on a runner’s performance through wired or bluetooth headphones. Feedback will include tips for how a user can reach their optimal training zone, reach their fitness goals, and how to perfect their running motion to lower risk of injury.

STATE OF THE INDUSTRY: Don’t Miss the World’s Premier Sports Tech Event (March 26–27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn)

NURVV is based in the U.K. Hiro Capital launched last October as a $110 million venture capital fund focused on investing in Europe-based startups within games, esports, and sports technology industries. This deal marks Hiro’s first investment in the sports tech space according to Luke Alvarez, managing director at Hiro Capital.

“NURVV’s success comes from putting the athlete’s body at the heart of everything they do,” Alvarez said in a press release. “NURVV is based on fundamental patented sensor technologies combined with deep biomechanics and data science that have revolutionary potential across sports, gaming, VR/AR and wellness.”

NURVV Run is available $299.95 on BestBuy.com and NURVV.com. Each purchase includes two insoles, two GPS trackers, and access to the free NURVV Run Coaching app.
