FanDuel Becomes an Official Fantasy Sports Partner of XFL

FanDuel has signed a deal to become an official fantasy sports partner of the XFL. The partnership gives FanDuel permission to use XFL data to fuel its fantasy contests throughout the spring football league’s season.

Data from the XFL is being collected by Champion Data, which signed a deal last November to become the league’s official stats partner. FanDuel and the XFL will collaborate promotional contents for FanDuel’s fantasy users, including social giveaways with unique XFL prizes. FanDuel will also use official league and team trademarks and logos in its fantasy app as part of its partnership with the XFL.

STATE OF THE INDUSTRY: Don’t Miss the World’s Premier Sports Tech Event (March 26–27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn)

The XFL’s partnership with FanDuel was announced just one day after DraftKings announced it will be an authorized gaming partner of the XFL. While DraftKings is offering both daily fantasy contests and betting on XFL games in states that have legalized online sports betting, the league’s partnership with FanDuel is strictly tied to fantasy sports. The deal does not indicate that XFL betting will be offered in FanDuel’s sportsbook. XFL owner Vince McMahon holds a minority stake in DraftKings.

“Fantasy sports is an essential part of the football fan experience and we’re thrilled to be partnering with FanDuel, a leader in this space, to provide XFL fans additional ways to connect to our games,” Jeffrey Pollack, president and COO of the XFL, said in a press release.

The XFL’s inaugural season kicks off this Saturday. Ahead of the first slate of games, FanDuel will host a special XFL kickoff show broadcasted on sports gambling network TVG. The show will also stream on FanDuel’s website. Both TVG and FanDuel are owned by Flutter Entertainment.
